Groceries arrive and get put away
The order goes in ahead of time through Instacart and is timed to land during the visit. Everything goes into the fridge and cupboards properly, and anything past its date gets cleared out.

Bella Amasa is a Personal Support Worker and the person behind Ottawa Senior Sitters.
She started it for a simple reason. Plenty of families in Nepean do not need nursing care. They need someone kind and dependable to spend a couple of hours in the house each week, fill the fridge, make a proper meal, keep things tidy and sit down for a cup of tea.
That is the whole idea. One person your parent gets to know, doing the things that make a week easier, and keeping you in the loop after every visit. Bella runs the business herself, which is why the same face turns up each week and why arranging it stays this simple.

No employer paperwork. Bella is self employed and invoices you after visits. There is no payroll to run, nothing to deduct and no T4 to issue at the end of the year.
Groceries are separate. They are ordered on your parent's own Instacart account and card, or on yours, so you stay in control of what is bought and what it costs.
Travel. Visits outside the Nepean service area may include a small travel fee. Bella will tell you the exact amount before anything is booked, so there is never a surprise on the bill.
Free consultation. The first visit is a conversation, not a bill. Bella walks you through the rate and how visits work, and you decide afterwards.
Missed visits. If Bella is ever unwell, the visit is rescheduled within seven days and you are not charged for the one that was missed.
Cancellations. Please give at least 24 hours' notice so the time can be offered to another family. Cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice are charged 50 percent of the visit fee.

What is not included in a visit?
Ottawa Senior Sitters is not a nursing or medical service. Bella does not give, sort or handle medication, does not provide wound or catheter care, and does not help with bathing, toileting or transfers. Visits are for grocery help, light meals, light housekeeping, medication reminders and companionship.
If your parent needs hands on personal care or nursing, say so on the consultation call and Bella will tell you honestly whether these visits are the right fit.
How is this different from an agency?
Agencies often send whichever caregiver is available that day. With Ottawa Senior Sitters, every visit is Bella. Your parent builds a real relationship with one person who knows their routine, their kitchen and what they like to eat, and you always know exactly who is walking through the door.
Do I become Bella's employer?
No. Bella is self employed and runs her own business, so there is no payroll to run, no source deductions to calculate and no T4 to issue. She invoices you after visits and you simply pay the invoice.

Bella focuses on regular weekly visits rather than daily or overnight care. If your parent needs daily visits, overnight cover or hands on personal care, say so on the consultation call and she will happily point you toward the right kind of support.
How are the groceries paid for?
Groceries are ordered through Instacart on your parent's own account and card, or on yours. Bella places the order and times the delivery to land during the visit, then puts everything away. You stay in control of what is bought and what it costs.

Nepean, in Ottawa. Visits just outside Nepean may still be possible with a small travel fee, so it is always worth asking when you call.
